Monday turned on a beautiful sunny day to get back into it for term two at Garden Club. We had a look at the pumpkin patch and picked a couple more big pumpkins (now being taken care of in the office - thank you!). We've got a few Monarch Butterfly caterpillars munching on our swan plant - come past and have a look and watch out for them turning into chrysalises. We mixed up a whole lot of different flower seeds, including Cornflower, Carnation, Strawflower, Freesia, Statice and Everlasting Daisy. They got a good shake in a bag to mix them well and then we sprinkled them over our freshly prepared garden bed - hopefully we will have a colourful flower patch for picking in a few months time. The orchard trees got a bit more seasonal pruning and we learnt about using pruning paste and what ingredients we can make our own pruning paste with - this sounds like a good project for the rainy winter Garden Club days. A bit more weeding and tidying up and that was garden club for the week - see you next week! | |
