Attendance
School begins at 8:55am. The handbell rings at this time to indicate there is 5 minutes before the electronic bell rings at 9am and the roll is taken. Students who arrive after the bell must go to the office to have their attendance recorded.
Morning break is 11:00-11:30am.
Lunch break is 1:00-1:45pm.
School finishes at 3:00pm
Absences
Please notify the office via the HERO app, email ([email protected]) or phone call (a message on the answerphone is fine) before the start of the school day. You must also use the 'Sign in/out tablet' (in the office foyer) if your child/children leaves early from school during the school day, or if they arrive after the start of the school day.
Future absences should be notified by email to both the office and the class teacher.
After School Care
A private after-school facility is run at the playcentre next door to the school.
Contact details are: [email protected], Faye Livesey 027 6422 380 or Sho Pogoni 021 0264 9893 from 2:40pm weekdays.
Buses
Students who live more than 3.2km from their nearest state school are entitled to catch a free bus service to and from school.
Details of bus routes are available on our website.
New bus users: Parents/caregivers must contact the school office ([email protected]) to complete a bus permission form so children can be added to our bus lists.
Students are checked by staff before boarding the bus.
Casual users or children using a different bus than usual (eg. to go to a friend’s house) must notify the school office by 1pm on the day concerned so they can be added to the bus list for that day only.
Clothing/Hats
The school does not have a school uniform.
But we do have a Coatesville School sport shirt which we encourage students to purchase. We strongly recommend all students from Year 3 purchase a shirt which will be used whenever they represent the school.
A school hat is provided free to each new student when they start and must be worn, when outside, during Terms 1 and 4.
If lost or damaged, new hats can be purchased from the office.
Footwear is required when outside during Terms 2 and 3.
It is helpful if your child has a change of clothes in their bag in case of emergencies.
Dental Service
A mobile van visits the school periodically (but is becoming less frequent now) to do checks and basic dental procedures.
If further treatment is required the dental therapists will give children an appointment time to attend the clinic at Albany Junior High School.
If your child requires attention, please phone AJHS Community Dental Clinic on 415-2059.
Music Tuition
Private tuition is available during school time for piano, harp and guitar. Details are available at the office.
