The Arts at Coatesville School includes:
Visual Art
Each class completes their own art programme. We have a part-time specialist art teacher Ms Gunnell who takes each class for an art programmme at least once per year. She also takes a group of students each Thursday who show a special talent for art. We consider our Art programme to be of an extremely high quality.
Music
Each class has a weekly music session with our part-time teachers Mrs Craigie or Mrs Leefe. They also run an instrumental group and a separate choir group which practice during classtime each week. We consider our Music programme to be of an extremely high quality.
Drama
This element of the Arts is incorporated into teaching and learning programmes wherever possible. It is sometimes offerred as a 'Thriving Thursday' option for students.

Each discipline is structured around four interrelated strands: Understanding the Arts in Context, Developing Practical Knowledge in the arts, Developing Ideas in the arts, and Communicating and Interpreting in the arts. The achievement objectives for each discipline reflect its distinct body of knowledge and practices. By building on and revisiting learning from previous levels, arts programmes in each discipline provide progressions of learning opportunities in all four strands.
