Coatesville School has a very extensive music programme. With an excellent part-time teacher, Claire Craigie, we offer:
- every class has a specialist music session each week;
- school choir practice each week and regular performance opportunities;
- extension instrumental groups for those playing violin, marimba and recorder; and
- individual tuition is available for students wanting to develop skills with guitar, piano and violin.

Northern Bays Cluster Arts Festival - June 2015
Our choir and instrumental group performed the song "Everything Is Awesome!" from the "The Lego Movie".

Marimba Festival - October 2016
In September 400 children from across Auckland played together in the annual ONZA marimba festival. Our instrumental group represented the school by performing en masse 9 works by composers from around the world. This involved learning many different parts and playing different percussion instruments, ranging from small glockenspiels to large marimbas. The children played to a large and appreciative audience at the ASB stadium in Kohimarama.
A big thank you to Richard and Stephanie Carr for transporting the big marimbas and to all the parents for your support. This was indeed one of the highlights of the 2015 music programme.
