At Coatesville School, all our Year 6 students are given leadership opportunities by participating in the following groups; Student Leadership Team, Peer Mediators, PE Monitors, Librarians.
The Student Leadership Team represent all the interests of our students and support our school in a number of ways, including; running fun lunchtime and whole school events and supporting fundraising activities. They meet every week to discuss ideas and initiatives. They are our role models who demonstrate our Coatesville Values and Competencies- Responsibility/Helping Myself; Reflection/Thinking; and Respect/relating to Others.

Kindness, Love and RespectThe Student Leadership spread messages of Love, Tolerance, Kindness, Respect, Unity and Solidarity. In the wake of the tragedy that occurred in Christchurch on March 15th. They invited students to take part in sending messages by creating paper hearts with heartfelt messages on them and by adding their fingerprint to a peace sign mural.
The paper heart messages will be displayed on the library window and the Peace sign mural will be presented to a local Mosque. |
LibrariansLibrarians are trained to help keep the library functional and tidy, and support students looking for some quiet time at lunchtimes. This group of students show their capabilities and endeavor by promoting books to their peers at assemblies during the year.

Peer MediatorsPeer Mediators support positive student behaviour in the playground during lunchtimes. These students are trained to provide mediation for low level issues between students through active listening to both sides of the problem; understanding what the problem is; and enabling students to problem solve an outcome agreed to by both parties.

P.E.MonitorsPE Monitors issue sports gear to students, maintain the Sports Shed and run lunchtime sports activities whenever possible. These students help make lunchtimes positive and productive.
