We are loving Flip it Friday so far. Here are our reflections, which we add to each week.
This fortnight our Competencies focus is Reflection - Problem Solve.
In Room 3 we have been talking about how we can problem solve in the classroom, and have done a few fun, hands on problem solving activities in groups! See the pictures of our Problem Solving fun below :)
Last week we had to make a spider web with wool, and then try to untangle another teams web, blindfolded!
This week we challenged ourselves to make the highest tower we could, with marshmallows and uncooked pasta!
Today Room 3 completed the 100 word challenge. Lauren's story was voted as the classes favourite and will be entered into the competition. Well done Lauren!
Once there was a nice durian, he was called Mr Not Smelly D, until he got pooped on by Smellinator and then he was called Smelly D. Everybody laughed at him. He was very sad. Smelly D hid in his tree house all day until…Smellinator came in his tree house. He said to Smelly D,”you're so smelly and ugly nobody likes you Smelly D.” He was so sad he wanted to run away. Then one day he saved up all his money and bought a Ferrari. He drove it all day and became the happiest durian around.
Last term for te reo Maori we learnt different greetings !
This term we have learnt about how to introduce ourselves (check out our awesome Pepehas here!)
For the rest of this term we are going to be working on introductions & counting.
It's NZ Bullying Free week. Kahu team got together this morning to unpack what bullying is and isn't and then worked in small groups to come up with a pledge that together, we commit to saying NO to bullying!
This term our Inquiry focus is 'Sustainability'. We will be doing a lot of Science throughout the term and today we started with learning about 'Eco-Systems'!
Room 1 & 3 worked together so well to explore what an Eco-system is, discuss what things interact in an Eco-system and why we need them!
Have a look at what we have been learning so far. Tomorrow we will start writing our Explanation's about Eco-Systems :)
Our focus for this term is sustainability. We have been investigation what sustainability means, and taking a look at the environment around us to start thinking about how sustainable we are in our community. We also came up with a lot of great questions about sustainability and how we can be a more sustainable school.
We took a walk through the reserve and community hall park next to school and found lots of rubbish there. It gave us a good idea of just how much rubbish is around, what kinds of rubbish there are and started us thinking about how we can look after our environment.
A great community clean up job on a beautiful morning!
