In Room 9 we have been learning about Bees and the special role they play in nature. Today we had a special visitor, Mila's Mum Polly, come to share her knowledge about bees and beekeeping. We all learnt a huge amount, which complemented the work we had been doing in literacy - reading and writing about bees. Polly brought in a jar of bees which we got to pass around and look closely at their tiny hairs and pollen sacs. She also brought in an old hive to show us the honeycomb with pollen and honey stores. We got to ask Polly lots of questions about bees and what it was like to be a bee keeper. Finally we got to taste fresh some honey made last summer. Thanks again to Polly for sharing your passion and expertise with us.
