This term we have been learning about 'Being Successful'. In the Kauri Syndicate, we have focused our learning around what we want to be when we grow up, and how we might be successful in these chosen careers. We have been lucky enough to have had several guest speakers speak to us about their careers. Mr Tolsma spoke to us about being an architect, Mr Johnson spoke about being a school Principal, Steve Bates came in to speak about being an All Black, Mrs Thompson's husband Rewi spoke about being a captain of a naval ship and Constable Bryan spoke about being a policeman. Here are some photos of our guest speakers.
We have enjoyed learning lots of new skills and gaining confidence in the water during swimming lessons. Check us out...
Starting school is not just about learning to read and write. We also need to learn how to look after our belongings, and to take pride in keeping our classroom tidy. Well, all the reminders from Mrs Thompson must have paid off as Room 8 won the 'E' award for last week. To win this award, we needed to keep the area outside our class really tidy. This meant our shoes had to go on the shoe rack, and our lunch boxes needed to stay in our school bags. It also meant we put paper in the recycling, and other rubbish in the bin. Well done Room 8! Let's see if we an win it again!
On Friday morning, Room 8 had a special visitor who came right up to the fence to say neigh ("hello" in horse speak). How lucky are we to be right next door to the pony club!
