This week we have been presenting our speeches to the class in readiness for next week's Syndicate Final, and today we held our class semi final to select the 3 representatives to go forward.
Well done to Lachie, Levi, Cooper, Jack, & Isabel who all made the semi final stage!
And a massive congratulations to our 3 representatives at the Syndicate Final next Monday - Kayla, Ellie & Zara!
The final will be held in the Library from 11:45 on Monday, so if you want to come along and support the students you are more than welcome.
We have been extremely lucky having Mr Bev Savage offer to provide gymnastics lessons to the students of Totara syndicate. Mr Savage has experience as an international level gymnastics coach in Great Britain, so he brings immense knowledge and expertise, and the kids today just lapped it up!
ANZAC design and physics tasks. Designing a sports uniform inspired by ANZAC Day. Testing paper projectiles fired from a rubber band. We are seeing how far they fly, how long it takes them to hit the ground, and then using this data we can work out the velocity of the projectile.
We took part in the Get NZ Writing project earlier in the term. One of the tasks was to create metaphor poems about ourselves and another was to complete the share sheet about us as a class. Below are our efforts, these then got shared with a Y5/6 class at Poukawa School, in Hastings.
We then received the same back from our partner class, as seen below.
We have been doing mini statistics investigations. The students posed a question and then recorded the responses of their peers to get their data. After collecting their data they needed to create a graph using it before analysing the data and making some conclusions based on it. Below is an example of what the end investigation might look like when it is presented using www.infogr.am.
