The Kiwi Team have had an amazing time this week working to keep Coatesville School Bully Free. Each afternoon we got to head to a different teacher in the Kiwi Team where we learnt about ways to spread kindness. Have a look at some of our pictures taken this week!
As some of you may know Levi is travelling the world with his family for the next few months. It has been fun checking in and seeing all the awesome adventures he is having. At the end of last term we wrote to him and he has now replied. Click here to see our reply!!
It was Room 7's and Room 8's turn to run Team Assembly! They did an amazing job! They sung a song about "Filling Buckets" and the different ways we can do that (thanks for writing such an awesome song Mrs Behague!) and also had everyone "moving and grooving" with lots of cool action songs! You were all AWESOME!!! We are very proud of you!
As part of our topic on Diversity, Room's 6 and 8 have been looking at different types of houses that children around the world live in. We were very interested in people who lived in tree houses and tents so we decided we would try to make our own huts in the forest playground. We asked our big buddies from Room 3 to come and help us. Check out our photos........
As part of our diversity focus, we have been learning that everyone is unique and that we need to appreciate each other's differences. It was room 6's turn to host our kiwi team assembly this week and we wanted to share our learning with the team!
We've been reading stories about diversity. Our favourite story was Giraffes can't dance! It's about a giraffe that can't dance like the other animals. The other animals were bucket dippers and made fun of Gerald. Then Gerald met a cricket, who was a bucket filler, and helped Gerald find his own way to dance. We have realised that like Gerald, we are all different which makes us unique! We have made beautiful Giraffe can't dance art work, which we shared at assembly. Our art will be displayed in our classroom this week - come and check it out!
We enjoyed singing This Is Me from The Greatest Showman, and teaching Kiwi Team the Bucket Filler Chant! We think that it's really important to be bucket fillers and to make other people feel happy. We have been brainstorming different ways that we can be bucket fillers by using kind words and actions. Have you seen our awesome buckets?
Miss Winson was really proud of the way we performed at assembly. She said "Way to go Room 6!"
The Context for Coatesville School this term is Diversity and the Kiwi team have been busy learning about what this means for us.
This week it was Room 10's chance to present at our team assembly. We have spent a lot of time practicing and rehearsing our lines. However we were all so nervous still!
The play was about how Ivy and Chloe were best friends and they always did everything together. Every lunch time they sat and ate their sandwiches together until Chloe said Ivy's sandwich was weird and yucky, and Ivy said Chloe's sandwich was gross. We learnt that it's ok to like different things!
Great job Room 10!
This week Coatesville School has been celebrating Chinese New Year. We learnt that some of us in the class were born in the Year of the Rabbit and some of us were born in the Year of the Dragon. We wanted to find out why animals were named after the years and how this came to be. We watched a clip about how the Jade Emperor created a race and invited all the animals to take part. Room 9 wanted to perform a play to explain how it happened. First we re-told the stories and used these to write our scripts then we made masks for the emperor and all the animals. We really enjoyed sharing it with Kiwi Team at our assembly today.
Well done Room 9 you did such an amazing job!!
We are room 6, a fabulous year one class.
