It's NZ Bullying Free week. Kahu team got together this morning to unpack what bullying is and isn't and then worked in small groups to come up with a pledge that together, we commit to saying NO to bullying!
This term our Inquiry focus is 'Sustainability'. We will be doing a lot of Science throughout the term and today we started with learning about 'Eco-Systems'!
Room 1 & 3 worked together so well to explore what an Eco-system is, discuss what things interact in an Eco-system and why we need them!
Have a look at what we have been learning so far. Tomorrow we will start writing our Explanation's about Eco-Systems :)
Our focus for this term is sustainability. We have been investigation what sustainability means, and taking a look at the environment around us to start thinking about how sustainable we are in our community. We also came up with a lot of great questions about sustainability and how we can be a more sustainable school.
We took a walk through the reserve and community hall park next to school and found lots of rubbish there. It gave us a good idea of just how much rubbish is around, what kinds of rubbish there are and started us thinking about how we can look after our environment.
A great community clean up job on a beautiful morning!
Last week Room 3 ate a sour lolly and then practiced their sentence structure by writing sentences using their senses. Mrs Burnett also captured the moment the sourness hit us! Check out our photos and writing below.
Room 3 have been writing Metaphor poems about ourselves to send to our buddy class - we can't wait to receive theirs next week!
Just a quick couple of reminders: Swimming days are Monday, Tuesday & Friday – Togs should be coming to school these days Devices – A number of devices are coming to school with flat batteries, or not coming in all. It makes it really hard when we expect them to be here and they aren’t We have been talking to all Kahu students about being independent and responsible – it is their responsibility to remember these things, if you could please help encourage them to do this, that would be great!
'Inquire' comes under the Coatesville competency of reflection. Today, we explored what it means to inquire. The class was challenged to build the tallest tower they could using playdoh and cotton buds. We quickly learned that in order to be successful, we needed to ask good questions, plan and work collaboratively together!
