The school is situated in an attractive rural setting five kilometres north west of Albany, twenty kilometres north of Auckland. In 2004 there are twelve teaching spaces, catering for an almost exclusively European roll that exceeds 300 by year's end. Staffing entitlement exceeds thirteen Full Time Teacher Equivalents: there are twelve classroom teachers, a number of part-time teachers and teacher aides, along with an office manager and assistant, plus a caretaker. Commercial cleaners are employed.
Facilities include a large administration block, four resource rooms, a multi-purpose room, music tutor spaces, withdrawal rooms, storage rooms and sheds. A new Library / Information Centre, Performing Arts and Technology Centre, plus two new/replacement classrooms have been built last year. There are several well developed playground areas and a fitness circuit. Because of its location, the school is on tank water and has a septic tank system. Children are transported to school by private car.
The school is highly regarded for its academic and sporting achievements and innovative programmes. The children's attitudes and interpersonal relationship skills are reflected in diligent work habits and high standards of behaviour. The experienced staff is constantly striving to further improve the standards for all pupils, while children with special abilities and special needs are also catered for.
Coatesville has great potential and an exciting future.
