HOMEWORK
It is the school’s policy to set some homework for all classes. We would expect all children, to be involved in reading, and where capable, spelling and basic facts practice. Other activities may be set if they relate to the current learning focus within the classroom.
Individual teachers will communicate the specific homework requirements for their classroom, butb these are based on school-wide guidelines. If there are any difficulties with homework please contact the classroom teacher.

MUSIC TUITION
Private tuition is available during school time in guitar, piano and violin. Details are available at the office.

PARENTS AND FRIENDS ASSOCIATION (PFA)
The Parents and Friends Association, a particularly active and enthusiastic group, is principally concerned with the organisation of social events and fund raising ventures. They have monthly meetings and are always encouraging new members. The committee is elected annually.

REPORTING TO PARENTS
Parents are invited a ‘Meet the Teacher’session early in Term 1, when routines, programmes, and expectations are outlined.
6-8 weeks into the first term, a brief report focused on initial progress with competencies and reading, writing and maths is issued. Follow-up parent/teacher/student conferences are scheduled.
Formal reporting is done during July/August and December, when written reports are issued. Parent/teacher/student conferences are held after mid-year progress reports. Spread over two days, school closes at 2pm.

SAFETY: BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL

To prevent congestion, and for safety reasons, the driveway is for staff and business vehicles only. Parents are asked not to use the staff carpark as this causes congestion and danger to students and staff.
Students must wait inside the school grounds until a parent or caregiver collects them from inside the grounds.

If no parent has arrived to collect a child from the gate by 3.15pm, the child is to go back to the school office and wait until his/her parent or caregiver arrives.

A footpath across the front of the playcentre and up the side of the pool is for pedestrian traffic to the carpark and vehicles parked in front of the pool. That is, students should not walk across the carpark; nor is there any need to use the road edge path across the front of the playcentre carpark. Students are instructed not to cross the road without an adult.

Children who cycle to school must wear helmets and be fully conversant with the road code and safe riding practice. The Police Department recommends pupils over the age of 10 years are physically capable of cycling to school. Please let the office know if your child intends to ride to school. Children who come by bike are to walk their bike up the drive and put into the stand under the trees.

Teachers do not supervise use of the Adventure Playground after school. To assist in dispersal, and for safety reasons the Adventure Playground should be used only with direct parent supervision. For safety reasons, this playground is out of bounds before school.

SCHOOL LUNCHES
Children are encouraged to bring a healthy lunch to school, benefiting their own growth and achievement.

Bought lunch options:

Monday - “Sausage Sizzle”

Wednesday - Subway Day – pick up an envelope from the classroom and take to the lunch monitors in front of the library before school on Wednesday.

Friday - lunch orders from the Coatesville Store, where pre-orders need to be placed by noon on Thursday.
