Kate Thompson, Year One, Coatesville School
The learning intention for this work was for the children to use the Paint programme to draw a picture of a NZ city, depicting something that was unique about that place. They then had to write a sentence about their picture in their story writing books and with teacher help, record themselves reading their sentence into a microphone over their slide. After a class discussion, the children decided they had to use a loud, clear and slow voice when reading into the microphone.
Five children from this class were given the opportunity to become experts after a session learning about Paint and photostory with the facilitator. The rest of the children were coached one-one-one with some Year 6 experts, and had the process modeled at each step by myself.
The children were highly motivated and engaged in creating their own illustrations using this programme, and were very proud of the finished product.
