All staff are involved to a greater or lesser degree in determining the placement of pupils. The following factors are very carefully considered over a number of weeks.
* Numbers of pupils on the roll in each year level
* School structure and organisation to best fit numbers and staff
* Ability, including academic, in the essential learning areas and skills
* Age & maturity
* Peer group
* Behavioural & social factors
* Number of years in a particular class, or likely to be in a particular class in the future
* Parent – teacher discussion information shared at interviews
